Mango's Musings

Today I was so hungry that I gave in and ate the hay. It was so horrible that I was forced to eat my second most dreaded food. Dandie flowers.

Today was the worst day ever. I woke up and went to get breakfast when I saw the most disgusting thing ever. Hay. I’m not eating that! I’m not a cow! I stomped and pouted well into the afternoon without taking a single bite. I think mom felt bad because she decided to mix some of our tortie slop in it so I choked some down as a truce. Thankfully, once the horrible hay was gone, she rewarded us with tasty noms.

I helped mom work today! I got the paint and told her where to put it. Hopefully I will get to sign it too.

Hi Mango, my baby tort is going arriving on Wednesday! Other than contemplating names I am also putting the finishing touches on the enclosure. Its a small, temporary one since it's still under 2 inches now, (3 feet long only). Anyway Ive got cypress mulch down, the heat/UV lamp is 10.5in. away from it. It wont catch fire will it? And should the heat/humidity thermometer be on the heatlamp side or the cool side? Also which part of a pumpkin do torts eat? The squishy insides or the outside crust?

Hello! It sounds like you have a good start on your tortie home! Mom is always tweaking our basking lights and checking the temperature under them. In the summer it is higher up and in the winter, lower down. As long as you pay attention to your temps, you should be ok.
As for the pumpkin, we like the soft, stringy parts and the inside hard part. Not the peel or seeds though.

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for forbidden treats, cuddly stuffies and a little brother who shares with me.

Beautification today. My beak was getting a bit over grown and even though I like to eat the cuttlebone, it wasn’t getting any shorter. Mom helped me out by giving me a bath and then taking a nail file to gently file my beak down. I feel much better and gave mom a cuddle after to let her know I wasn’t mad.

The last of my day at the pumpkin patch. These pumpkins must be more important than the ones in the field because they were given their own throne of hay and people were coming over to admire them. Of course they saw me too and gave me many compliments which means I must rank higher than a pumpkin.

The leaves have turned red and I’m not too sure about that. Green is safe so how do I know that these leaves aren’t dangerous? Maybe I should go for walk to ponder it.

My basking lamp is acting up this morning. Thankfully Waffles gave me his spot
